What this means

Heroic Rescue Academy is an interactive adventure brand whose content is intended for adult audiences only. The Site at codersduostudio.com, and the products and experiences we are developing, may contain or refer to:

  • Mature themes – including violence, conflict, moral ambiguity, and depictions of difficult or distressing situations
  • Strong language – including profanity, slurs in dramatic context, and other language unsuitable for younger audiences
  • Adult fiction – narratives written for mature readers, with situations, choices, and consequences intended for adults
  • Dark themes – including but not limited to references to death, loss, war, addiction, and trauma

This content is not pornographic. It is, however, written for adults and may not be appropriate for younger audiences or for readers sensitive to the themes listed above.

Who can access the Site?

You may access the Site only if:

  1. You are at least 18 years of age, or the age of majority where you live, whichever is greater
  2. It is lawful for you to access content of this nature where you live
  3. You consent to encountering the themes described above

If any of these conditions do not apply to you, please leave the Site.

Age verification

We use a self-declaration age gate. When you first visit the Site, you are asked to confirm that you are 18 or older. We do not collect personal data through this process – we set a cookie that records that the gate has been passed for 30 days.

We acknowledge that self-declaration is not a foolproof method of age verification. It is, however, the proportionate mechanism for our specific content category – adult-themed fiction that is not pornographic. The EU more broadly have not harmonised age assurance requirements for non-pornographic mature content, and the data minimisation principle (Article 5(1)(c) GDPR) supports using the least intrusive method appropriate to the risk.

We do not currently meet – and are not currently subject to – the “highly effective age assurance” obligations applicable to publishers of pornographic content under member state laws, including:

  • France: Loi du 21 mai 2024 visant à sécuriser et à réguler l’espace numérique (SREN law), implemented by ARCOM
  • Germany: Jugendmedienschutz-Staatsvertrag (JMStV), enforced by KJM
  • Italy: Decreto-legge 13 novembre 2024, n. 203 (Codice Caivano) and AGCOM regulations
  • Spain: Royal Decree on the protection of minors in digital environments (in force)
  • United Kingdom: Online Safety Act 2023, Part 5 (Ofcom)

By clicking “I am 18 or older”, you confirm under your own responsibility that the statement is true. Falsely confirming your age may breach our Terms of Service and may, in some jurisdictions, be a criminal offence.

Parents and guardians

If you are a parent or guardian and you believe a child in your care may have accessed the Site, we recommend:

  • Reviewing the child’s browser history and bookmarks
  • Speaking to them about the content and your family’s standards around it
  • Considering parental control software

To report content under the EU Digital Services Act notice and action mechanism, please refer to our Terms of Service Section 7.

Changes to this notice

We will update this notice if the nature of our content changes or if regulatory requirements in our markets evolve. Material changes will be flagged on the Site and at the next age-gate prompt after they take effect.
